Numerology is one of a number of methods used for personal analysis. The method provides accurate results when applied properly. Additional methods are available, and professionals in this area would usually combine several methods in order to reach optimal results.
The numerology method is based on the fact that words and numbers possess an inner meaning beyond the straight and simple one. Some of us may sense this additional mysterious entity but most of the time we are not aware of it.
The method is an old one. It is known that Pythagoras, the Greek mathematician and philosopher, established the connection between numbers and elements in the universe. He has further claimed that each number hides within it its own special vibration. This vibration could interact in resonance (harmony), or else without resonance, with the other active numbers in the universe.
Pythagoras had discovered the magic power of numbers. With the aid of numerology he was able to simplify the philosophical theories that he taught. He used numbers as a way to clarify his positions and simplify his ideas, and this use allowed him to translate his theories into reality.
The methods of Numerology were able to explain the history of the universe in a manner that was logical, understandable and therefore accepted. The method was taught and applied around the countries of the Mediterranean and from there it became distributed throughout the world.
Kabala and other esoteric teachings have incorporated Numerology into them and have added further developments.
Many books in many languages were written on Numerology, and today we are witness to a trend towards the reconstruction of this ancient knowledge and the making of it available to people for their daily use.
We have all experienced instances in our life whereby some action we had taken, which seemed logical at the time, resulted in a negative outcome. Conversely, on many occasions in which we acted against our common sense we found that our natural instincts were the ones to be trusted.
It seems that our common sense may numb our natural instincts at times, and lead us astray, and as a result we may end up more than once at a dead end.
While it is difficult for us to grasp the foundations for esoteric theories and teachings, such as Numerology, the fact remains that these theories can provide us with guidance and help us in our daily life. We do not claim that common sense and logic should be discarded, only that if they fail us we could turn to the alternative world of mysticism and draw from it an additional perspective on the situation.
Often I am asked : "Since my traits and character can be translated into numbers, would that indicate that I am identical to other people who posses the same numbers?" - My answer is that the number of combinations of the various numbers is infinite, just as the number of combinations that constitute the various personal traits is infinite, and thus, in reality as well as in the numerological analysis - each person is unique.

Numerology can be helpful in choosing a career path, getting to know our children better, finding a life partner, and above all - getting better acquainted with ourselves.
Being better acquainted with ourselves would spare us the anger which we tend to experience when we discover we are different from other people, and would allow us to make correct decisions, ones that are more appropriate for us.
The more aware we are of ourselves and the more we act in harmony with our inner nature, the less effort we would have to invest in our actions and the more successful we would become. It should be remembered though that no one is able to predict the future with certainty. All we can provide is a likely prediction, and we are always left with the opportunity to express our freedom of choice.
